Belmont Community Shows Support To WA Police After Tragic Death Of Constable Anthony Woods

With the recent tragic death of local Constable Anthony Woods, a local café in Belmont has been showing support to WA Police by offering free coffees to them.

Const. Woods, 28, sadly succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Sunday 11th June after a four-day fight for his life after he was crushed under an allegedly stolen car that had reversed over him while he attempted to arrest the driver in Ascot on Thursday.

Sapore Espresso Bar in Belmont has been encouraging the community to shout a coffee for a police officer until this Sunday, with the business matching every donation. Officers are invited to pop into the store and collect a free takeaway coffee.

Owner Jessica Fisicchia had said in the first few hours, the community had already purchased 30 coffees!

"It was really just an opportunity for the local community to say thank you, to show some gratitude and to stand with them. And to just provide that support for the serving WA Police Force to come in and get a free coffee and feel a little bit of love from those around them who are really grateful for the work they do every day."

Ms Fisicchia has stated that additionally, people outside of the Belmont community wanted to give back, buying coffees through their website to donate.
