On the 8th of February 2023 a TikTok video of a baseball team, recreating a video to the song ‘Money, Money, Money’ by ABBA went viral. That team is The Savannah Bananas, but that wasn’t where they got their fame.

The Savannah Bananas are an American exhibition baseball team. The team plays by their own rules which they have called ‘Banana Ball’. The team was founded in 2016 and played all their games at Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Georgia. The team is ‘for the fans’ by integrating fan catches as real outs on field and taking all ads out of the stadium.
The Savannah Bananas are famous for doing both TikTok and music video dances on field, having a stilt walker pitch, theatrical walking up to the plate introductions from the hitters, as well as fun on field outfits like kilts. If you haven’t seen them on social media, you’re missing out.
Although The Savannah Bananas are an American baseball team, one of their pitchers, Connor Higgins, is from right here in Perth. After one of the games, Higgins took to the Instagram stories with a photo of a couple teammates with the caption “I vote we take the bananas to @Perthheat”. The Perth Heat, Perth’s very own baseball team tweeted, with the caption “Should the @TheSavBananas come to PERTH?”
